I finally, finally finished Virginia Woolf's To the Lighthouse. I have no clue why it took me so long and about 3 start overs. It's pretty short and I like Woolf's writing. I just couldn't get into it.

Also picked up some comics today. Apparently, I missed the last issue of She Hulk... I got single issues of Slott's Avengers: The Initiative #3, Countdown 48 and 47, and Reed's Ms. Marvel #16. The first always gets me just a little too meta about the U.S. government and army. Countdown's okay. I think it's losing me as I'm not big into any of Superman's world and don't really know anything about Mary Marvel. And for the third, I'm happy to see that Ms. Marvel is getting back to where it was pre-Civil War and giving me actual stories about Carol.

I also picked up trades of Runaways: Teenage Wasteland V. 2, Cable & Deadpool: Bosom Buddies V. 4, Captain America: Red Menace V. 1, and Birds of Prey: Of Like Minds. I should have some good comic reading for a while, especially since I'm no longer local to my preferred comic shop.

And I'm not going to talk about the temptation of Star Trek DVDs.

You just reminded me that I need to pick up the new Buffy comic this week! :o)

There was definitely a new one sitting on the shelves at my local comic store.

I read the latest issue of the new Wonder Woman series. I'm loving this whole new storyline. I'd also love to get my hands on as many issues of the Young Avengers as I can, but we no longer have comic shops here and the local bookstore (which is where I work) only carries them in trade form.

I, also, have faced the temptation of the Star Trek DVDs, but I've always been defeated by the price.

Also, She-Hulk is awesome. You got me curious, talking about her so much, so I started reading them. Now I can't get enough.

The new Wonder Woman series should be getting even better since Simone is taking it over. I find that I'm really hot and cold about the current writer. I haven't been reading the Young Avengers, I take it that it's good?

Yeah, I found a bunch at a used bookstore, so marked way down, and bought 2 seasons of DS9 and didn't buy the 3 seasons of TNG that I need to complete my collection. *is giant trek nerd*

So glad that you're enjoying She Hulk for she rules. *g*

I'll admit, I was initially interested in Young Avengers because there's a gay couple in the hero group. But I got really drawn in and now they either aren't putting anymore out or my store isn't carrying them anymore. I'll have to check up on it.

I'm a huge trek nerd too. I don't really like the original series, mainly because of the crappy FX, but I'm weird that way. But I love TNG, DS9, and seem to be one of the few that really likes Voyager. Hated Enterprise for their attempted rewrite of Trek history.

As for She Hulk, I like the fact that she doesn't hide the fact that she's a woman, just because she also happens to be a hero. Somehow, she's more real for her faults and that she enjoys her sex drive. She's also one of the first female heroes I've seen that wasn't painted as pretty much a whore because she likes sex. Usually that's a bad guy trait.

And I can't wait for Hulk to get back to earth. I wanna read it now!!! Do you think she'll help him, or will she stay neutral?

I know that the entire Young Avengers title got disrupted with the Civil War storyline since several of them joined the resistance.

I'm not as fond of TOS but I do still appreciate it for what it is. I also liked Voyager for it's crack nature. I really don't think that it was any worse than TNG. I just don't think it was the right show for the era. I completely agree about Enterprise. It is not a Trek show.

That's definitely one of the reasons why I love and adore She Hulk. I also enjoy the contrast between her hulk and human form. I highly identify with Jen Walters.

Oh, I'm pretty sure that she'll help him.

Maybe I shouldn't ask you what temptation of the Star Trek DVDs, then? *g* I think I may feel you, though. I so want to get more of them even though they are way too expensive for my budget.

I would have to make like 2 times my current salary in order to even think about buying them. Of course, I found a bunch at a used bookstore marked down to like $35/each. I ended up with 2 seasons of DS9 and lusting over the 3 seasons of TNG to complete my TNG collection. So bad. And thankfully I had a discount due to selling books to them.

That's how I got my DS9 box sets, too--B&N did some kind of crazy mark down so I grabbed seasons 1 and 6.

Oh, man, my friend has been watching TNG and making me salivate for the DVDs. Must... resist... so I can buy gas... *sigh* Star Trek is worse than crack, I swear.

I had a similar experience with To the Lighthouse. It didn't take me all that long to read it, but the first two thirds are strange and slow and maybe a little dull. I liked it once I'd finished it, but I can totally see how someone would have a hard time getting started on it. I read much faster once I'd gotten to the interesting bits.

It was a very interesting experience. I think I was also previously reading it at points in my life when I just didn't have the time to commit to something that I would have to think anything about.
