Ugly Betty, I love you so much. You are made for me. Tonight's reveal of who the character-behind-the-mask was (played to be a dead woman) was so awesome. OMG, trans character! Even if she is 'evil' or as evil as you can be on Ugly Betty.

1. The 'Tell Me What to Create' AnonyMeme! - The rules are simple. You comment with your username, and people can tell you what they want to see you write. Tell me what to write, please! No promises, I'm really just curious at what you think I should be writing.

2. Fandom Pimping - What fandom are you surprised I'm not into? What fandom do you think is tailor-made for me and you can't believe I don't watch the show/fic it till my fingers fall off from typing/squee relentlessly about it? The "why" part of this is very important to pimp me things.

3. Ask My Fandom Opinion - Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Just one question, please, but it can (and perhaps should) have sub-parts. Question can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

2) I am actually a bit surprised that you haven't found Profiler! I should think that you would embrace a well-crafted and intelligent crime show with a slight supernatural tone, an openly gay character (and some fem-slash overtones with the female lead and her "roommate"), intriguing stories, suspense... I am just really surprised you never found it.

Actually, I did watch Profiler back in the day. My mom really enjoyed it so I've seen most of it, just when it was first airing. And as far as fandom goes, I'm really strange when it comes to cop shows in that the more drama (serious) ones, I don't pick up fandoms. (Like how I watch a lot of Law & Order and despite it being a very femslash-y fandom, I don't do fanfic.) Though I think I stopped watching it around the time that Sam wasn't on it.

On a funny side note, Robert Davi has guest starred several times on SGA and [livejournal.com profile] amaresu always gets really excited because she love Profiler.

I stopped watching when Ally Walker left, too. The new chick was just so annoying!

Hee! It's a small world. It's always fun when actors from shows you used to love guest star on your current faves. Or any actors you love, actually...I still squee when they rerun the Criminal Intent episode that Michael York guest starred in...

For #3 --

Since you're multi-fannish, what's the best fandom, in your opinion, for writing femslash, and why? Does it have to do with characters/narrative, or more to do with community and reader-enthusiasm?

Out of the fandoms that I'm part of, Battlestar Galactica definitely. It does have somewhat to do with the abundance of strong female characters, but I don't think that BSG has anymore than say the Buffyverse or Trek. Largely, it has to do with the community and reader-enthusiasm. There's more femslash being written in BSG than in any of my other fandoms and by a wider range of people. (There's an argument somewhere in there about how BSG is not a fandom for boyslashers.) Femslash gets far more feedback in BSG than it does in SGA and (mostly) Buffyverse (but still not as much as it should compared to the fandom OTP). It also helps that BSG does have canon f/f (Six/Three); however, that was a rather recent development in canon and people were already writing femslash before it happened. But it does help. Especially when I see the discussion of "Who should x female character hook up with?" and all the suggestions in a 200+ commented on meta piece are het relationships. In BSG fandom, someone would've brought up femslash long before that.

Interesting to hear that a canon f/f relationship did seem to help somewhat to create more writing/audience for femslash in BSG.

Was that all true in Buffyverse? I mean, did Willow/Tara make any difference to the encouragement of femslash, or did writing continue on without much impact from that canon f/f pairing?

I definitely think that Willow/Tara helped. There as a cluster of W/T fans. However, I also think that Joss pissed them off greatly by killing Tara and invoking the dead lesbian cliche and a lot of them left fandom. There was also people still wanking about whether W/T were dating until they kissed in "The Body" when they'd already been together for 1+ seasons.

However, I see a lot of people (and I myself fell into this for a while) not seeing other f/f pairings in Buffyverse given how the women relate to each other. Anya is my favorite and I have a hard time hooking her up with some of the characters even though I can totally see her hooking up with women. Does this make sense?

Oh, I can't believe I missed Ugly Betty tonight, but I had to be somewhere else... Will watch online today. (I'm spoiled for the big twist, though, and it's amazing and fun.)

Re #3: If you could write one culminating fic, the one you'd be remembered by, what would it be like?

The twist is definitely way cooler than they "hinted" at. *g*

Huh. Good question. Probably something plotty, longer, and definitely femslash. Possibly the fic that's known to turn anybody and everybody into a femslasher. Yeah, I'm really all about the converting.
