Observations from the sick ward

1. Everyone likes Queen.
2. My throat is feeling better and one side is like 100% less covered in white stuff. Which probably means I don't have strep like the doctor worried about.
3. Jason, however, is running a 101-102 fever and has been all day.
4. We're already on to BtVS S2.
5. I currently have Corizone around my lips due to hives. While I can consume egg and touch cooked egg, raw egg makes my skin break out. (Thankfully, not my tongue or inside my mouth or throat like when I was a child.) So the sauce on the pasta we ate for dinner is kind of a rash maker.
6. I really suck at making biscuits of any kind. Failure.
7. Jason was a total Highlander fanboy back in the day and wants to do a re-watch of it. (
amaresu, I see a mission.)
8. I am burning up as Jason has the chills so the heat is cranked and the oven's baking.
9. I'm working on this story where Buffy and Gunn are like 15 and they are freaking adorable. Both of them. Along with helping my writerly issues.
10. Do I really have to go to work tomorrow?

on 2008-03-10 03:44 am (UTC)I had a two-month long hives breakout that I never could explain, and I know how annoying they are.
Hope you feel better!

on 2008-03-10 09:46 am (UTC)Also, Highlander, w00t! Torri was in one episode of that at some point. But I prefer the film... 'cause, hey, more Queen.
I'm glad you're feeling better, sweetheart.

on 2008-03-10 11:38 am (UTC)I fully support any and all Highlander. Except The Source which I haven't seen, but I read plot summaries for and that was enough. End Game was bad enough.
Too bad you're almost 2000 miles away.

on 2008-03-10 03:54 pm (UTC)That's what I heard. Kinda took all desire to see it away.
Not that I haven't watched HL2 more than once. And I own it.

on 2008-03-10 07:37 pm (UTC)Preheat oven to 450
Sift together:
1 3/4 C all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp Salt
3 tsp baking Powder
Add:
4 to 6 Tblsp chilled butter
Cut shortening into dry ingredients, make a well in the center. Add, all at once:
3/4 C. Milk
Stir until free from the sides of the bowl. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured board. Knead gently and quickly, making about eight to ten folds. Roll with a lightly floured rolling pin, until 1/2 inch thick. Cut with a biscuit cutter dipped in flour. Place on an ungreased baking sheet and bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Tip: Don't twist the biscuit cutter while cutting. It seals the sides of the biscuit and doesn't allow it to rise as high as it should. They kind of end up like a hockey puck when you twist the cutter.

on 2008-03-17 01:24 am (UTC)I did find out that my baking soda was very expired so it got tossed and perhaps that will help in the future.
