viciouswishes: (cordy zen)
Nothing makes my uterus put up the "Out of Order" sign faster than spending time with family. And make me realize that I enjoy swearing and talking about porn. Mostly the latter. Oh, and how no one gets my jokes and it's no wonder that I grew up thinking I wasn't funny.

Seriously, my youngest cousin who's in 1st grade is the cutest kid in the entire world and makes me just want hug him and take him for long walks in the park when the realization hits that he's not a dog and I'd get bored of him very quickly and forget to feed him. However, he will at least survive on Top Ramen for 1 month or during the zombie apocalypse. (Then someone will be there to explain to [livejournal.com profile] lornelover why there are no French fries.)

Children are loud, very loud and my grandpa just turns the TV up. Today was the Civil War game, Ducks vs. Beavers and there were several sad Ducks' fans and 1 happy Beaver here. Mostly, I longed for hockey. The Disney kids channel is made of all kinds of evil with their webisodes, plus commercials. I am up very late because it's quiet. I miss my bed horribly and am clinging to these moments of silence as I will soon be back in my uncle and aunt's minivan being hauled back to my home. (Pre-Turkey day traffic in the Everett/Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area going on 25 mph average and my mom had the greatest motherly advice of telling them all to "Shut the fuck up" if the kiddie cousins started fighting.)

Yes, I only saw my mom on Turkey Day because she had to work Black Friday. Tis a national tragedy. (Only more so because she hasn't visited me since I moved way back in June. I have to travel to see her.) But she bribed me with early birthday presents because my birthday, like Election Day voters or young boys, comes early and often. I can't say that I was overly shocked by a Star Trek ornament (grandparents' traditional gift).

There was pumpkin pie for breakfast and dessert and snack. I love me some pumpkin pie.

I have also been a good fangirl and got my uncle, aunt, and possibly grandma all hooked on BSG. We watched the mini over 2 nights and my uncle said that we'd be watching more in the morning. My aunt's a total Boomer fangirl. I also spent an hour or so explaining to my grandma about fandom and such as she reads my lj, but doesn't get the fandom thing, especially definitions.

I also accept that I am super overly competitive when it comes to board games. I really should not feel such accomplishment when I beat three kids/tweens or watch Jeopardy! competitively with my grandpa.
