New Kitty!

Today, Jason started buying kitty supplies at Target and then drove to the shelter. Surprise kitty!

He needs a new name as his shelter-name was lame. He's six-years-old and was surrendered to the shelter when his owner failed to pick him up from the pet sitter. He's terrified of dogs and not so fond of lots of commotion. He's very curious and quickly explored our entire house. He also loves to be petted and brushed. All four of his paws have been de-clawed (horrific thing to do to a cat) so he's strictly indoors. He was perfect on the car ride home.

Kitty!

ETA: Kitty has a name: Winston Zeddemore

I can't see the picture! I can see it now. What a gorgeous boy he is! Wow!

I am so glad you rescued him and gave him a home. I'm such a believer in rescuing animals (yes, my Gracie was a pound puppy) and I could not be more pleased with you for opening your heart to an abandoned creature.

He is adorable.

So I am. All my cats have been rescued -- either from shelters, strays who found me, or rescued from bad owners -- and they've all been wonderful pets.

Yah! I'm so happy for you, Jason, and especially the lucky new Kitty. My sister saw a cat up for adoption the other day that had been completely declawed. Why would a vet do that? I don't understand. Your new cat is very handsome. You're going to have so much fun. Cats can live a long long time, so you're going to truly have a lifelong friend.

Thanks!

Yeah, it's so cruel. I even feel bad when we're playing with his toys (he loves to chase things on a string) and clearly, he swats expecting to get some claw resistance.

Winston has quickly become a real member of the family, and both Jason and I are looking forward to many years with him.

He's a big cat! Very lovely and cuddly looking. :)
My brain is throwing out something to do with the comic book character, The Phantom: The Ghost Who Walks. But then I am crap at naming things! :)

Posted by [identity profile] mallyns.livejournal.com
She can't name him Phantom. That's my cat name. ;) There is a rule about naming your kitties: One must not take a friends kitty name. Also you can't double name a kitty. :)

Hee! Shelter Kitty!

I have to admit, my mind leans towards 'Chester', because a friend of mine had a kitty called 'Chester' who recently died. :( But he looks like a Chester to me!

Nyara-kitty says hello (from on top of the modem). She was a rescue kitty, too. And is still furring her owner's clothing ten years later.

We went with Winston, which is another stately, distinguished name.

Hee. We've been adapting to the fur at my place. Mostly because he wasn't very well groomed at when he was brought into the shelter. Now that he's getting brushed daily or more, all that fur is flying.

Kitty-cat!

One of the best cat names I ever heard was a friend of my Mum's who had called his cat Mandu, because then he was CatMandu. I groaned at the time, but I always grin when I think about it. Mind you, I named my cat Kaboodle, because when she was a kitten, it meant she was KittenKaboodle ::grin::

Awww, so cute. And so glad you rescued an older cat. Kittens are great but most folks don't want the older ones. I've had three older ones (although not as old as yours) and they were (one still is!) great cats.

Take a couple of days and find out his personality - the name will come to you.

Yeah, we went in knowing that we didn't want a kitten. (Been there, done that.) He's an absolutely sweetheart and very well-mannered.

We went with Winston.

That's a big kitty! He's also very handsome. Yay, kitty! At least if he had to be declawed (which I agree is a horrible thing to do to a cat) he's now found a home where he'll be kept indoors and safe.

Yes, he's a good size cat. Thanks. :)

Yeah, even if he had claws, there's no way our current and foreseeable future living situation would allow for an outdoor cat.
